With fall on our doorsteps and temperatures cooling down, it is a great time to get prepared for winter. Insulating exposed pipes, both in the attic and outdoors, is something you cannot afford not to do. Broken pipes can cause horrendous water damage to your home and be very costly to repair. When installing pipe insulation, make sure the insulation fits snugly around the entire exposed pipe. If it is too small, you are not adequately protecting your pipes. If it is too big, you will have an air gap around the pipe and condensation may occur. Save yourself time and frustration by making sure you know how much insulation and the size you need before heading to your local hardware store.
