Most of us clean the lint filter on our clothes dryers after each load. If not, we should. Now ask yourself this question, “When was the last time I had the external dryer vent cleaned?” While the dryers internal vent filter catches a majority of the lint, lint still collects in the exhaust vent on the outside of the house. Some of the tell tale signs the dryer exhaust vent may be clogged or obstructed are:

• The clothes are not drying completely during the normal operating cycle and come out damp and musty
• The top of the dryer is abnormally hot

Depending on usage, it is a good idea to clean the external dryer vent on a regular basis. By regularly cleaning the external vent, you can reduce the potential for a lint fire in your home.
